In Fiscal Year 2011, The Way Home provided services that included the following:

  • Housing Counseling - The Way Home served 1,837 individuals in 785 households, including 747 children. Through The Way Home's housing counselors, clients gain access to such services as security deposit loans, connection to mainstream services (Food Stamps, TANF, etc.), and grants from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act's Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program.
  • Step to Success Coaching and Skills Training - 168 clients benefitted from The Way Home's Steps to Success coaching.  Group activities such as money management and cooking classes and community gardening helped homeless and at-risk individuals build skills in a supportive community.
  • Community Advocacy - represented low income concerns at the Public Utilities Commission & NH Senate, preserving NH Electric Assistance Program which reduces costs for 35,000 low-income households.

Outcomes included:

  • 393 households secured safe housing with $537,719 in security deposit guarantees and homeless prevention grants
  • 796 households counseled
  • 133 renters or homeowners attended additional financial management workshops
  • 68 homeowners received counseling on foreclosure-prevention strategies
  • 29 persons in 14 families received transitional housing
  • 10 chronically homeless individuals received supportive services and housing
  • 18 persons in 3 large families received permanent supportive housing
